Looking at this week’s prompt gave two different thoughts, and could not help putting both to print. My other post on the same Photoprompt: Heartbeats


The shrieks, the cries were all too powering. Women, children huddled in corners under tables, behind shelves or any object they could find, shivering with fear hoping that they become invisible. People running over each other, dragging some down, stomping over others, some falling on steps, injuring themselves more, some even being pushed over banisters and falling one, two floors down. The gleaming white tiles had red stains all across.

With a sudden shiver, John woke up, drenched in sweat. The AC showed 16. It felt 45. Five years to the shooting had passed, but the nightmare continued.
